3 Things to Know About Providenciales, Turks & Caicos

Turks & Caicos is home to the best villas in the Caribbean

If Jamaica is the home of all-inclusive resorts than Turks & Caicos can claim proudly private villas. More than 10 years had past since my last visit to Provo, and I was long overdue for turquoise waters, conch fritters, and Bambarra rum! On the morning of my arrival, I woke up to a video from my dedicated villa butler, Kuwon, and knew that I was going to be in good hands. If you’ve never experienced a private villa, then Turks is probably the best place to do it because there are a plethora of options to choose from. I stayed at Beach Enclave Long Bay and I know there’s a lot of fuss around Grace Bay Beach, but I loved being able to finish breakfast, drop my towel at the beach deck, and walk out 100 yards in water that only came up waist deep.

What You Need to Know About Private Villas

The beauty of a private villa is that everything you need is on site (pool, hot tub, beach deck, butler, chef), so you have all of the amenities of a hotel, but it’s just you and your people. My five bedroom villa was spacious enough that everyone could spread out when they needed to for work calls and Zooms, but cozy enough that we could all get together on the pool deck or around the table for a good meal. And Beach Enclave Long Bay is not far from The Shore Club, so if you want to get offsite and dine at a restaurant like The Almond Tree, that’s an option too.

Water lovers have found their island

Turks & Caicos is one of those destinations that you can’t visit without spending time on the water. It’s home to one of the largest barrier reefs in the world, so chartering a boat for a day is a must to truly experience the island. The beauty of booking your stay at Beach Enclave is that I can work with your concierge to arrange all of your activities for you, so you can be whisked away to your waiting boat, to dinner, or to drinks without ever having to pick up a phone!

If this sounds like how you love to vacation then keep reading for the 3 tips that you need to know about your next trip to Turks & Caicos!

3 things to know about visiting Turks & Caicos:

1.     Pay for the VIP airport service- It’s money well spent, and like many islands in the Caribbean, flights arrive and depart around the same time, so you’re going to be landing or departing with hundreds of other people. I wish I’d booked this service for myself before I landed, but I learned the lesson the hard way, but quickly corrected it for my departure!

2.     Make dining reservations early- I know I sound like a broken record (link to Jamaica article), but the food scene is Turks is wonderful and there are some must visit restaurants that everyone is trying to get into. As soon as you book your flights, we can start thinking about meals and make reservations as spots like Coco Bistro, or head to da Conch Shack, or Cocovan for more causal dining.

3.     Many villas tend to be large (4+ bedrooms)- So, if you don’t need that much space and are going during the peak season, book early. Beach Enclave just launched new 2 bedroom villas that I got a sneak peek at during my stay and they are perfect for couple’s or a family of 3. Peak season in Turks is typically anytime other than hurricane season, but I was there in the middle of July and occupancy was still high. Since more people can work and educate remotely, it’s important to book early if you want a smaller villa.
