Hotels to Love: Twin Farms
twin farms
Luxury and farm may not be two words that normally go together, but @twinfarms has found a way to make the combo work!
Tucked into 300 acres in the mountains of Vermont, the property feels like you’re entering a friends’ country estate, rather than a five star hotel.
There is no detail that’s been overlooked, but the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. You can do as much or as little as you want to do, but the thing that is certain is that you will eat and drink well!
everything you need to know about your first trip to TWIN FarmS:
when to book
I booked my reservation in February for a late September stay. If your preferred dates are in the fall, over holidays, or during school breaks, the earlier you can book the better options you will have for accommodations.
what to pack
This will be season dependent, for my late September visits, I brought athleisure wear for the day, causal outfits for mid-day, and dresses for dinner. The weather can change quickly, so a rain jacket and waterproof shoes are also good to have. I didn’t have hiking boots or trail shoes, but for my next visit I’ll invest in some.
Getting there
Twin Farms is about 3 hours from Boston. If you want a nonstop flight then fly into Boston and take a car from there. I didn’t want to be in the car that long, so I flew into Burlington, VT and it is about an hour and 15 minutes from there.
where to stay
I stayed in the Main House Guest Room, which had recently been updated and was both cozy and aesthetically stunning. Some of my favorite features were the wood burning fireplace, stunning views, meticulously curated art, and the snack box! I loved being in the main house because of the proximity to the game room, dining room, and of course, the bar.
what to do
There’s so much to do at Twin Farms that it may be hard to choose how you want to spend your time. Think axe throwing, kayaking, a pasta making class, e-biking, pickleball, and so much more.
I didn’t want to over exert myself too much, so I opted for hiking, archery, a bee keeping class, and canoeing. I loved picking one activity for each day that I was there and then spending my leisure time trying to solve the Stave Puzzles. And don’t miss the Japanese Furo!
where to eat
Everywhere! Seriously, you can pick almost any spot on the 300 acre property and have a picnic delivered to you. There are lots of cute spots to choose from, and everyone on the staff has their personal favorite. When you’re ready to dine indoors, then head to either the Dining Room for a more formal meal, or Twiggs for causal fare. Don’t forget that all of your meals, snacks, and beverages (yes, even wine and cocktails) are included!
what i wish i’d known
Don’t bother with a rental car, because you’re not going to want to leave the property and if you do there are house cars that you can borrow.
