A case for why you should cruise again
After COVID-19 came to the world’s stage I heard lots of people saying they would never cruise again. My response… post pandemic cruises will probably be one of the cleanest, most hygienic forms of transportation. The industry knows that it had a terrible publicist in the form of Coronavirus and it’s ready to prove all the naysayers wrong.
I’m a card carrying member of CLIA and I’m advising my clients to start small when it comes to cruising. Yes, there are small ships, yachts, and vessels and I can help you find the one that’s right for your next vacation!
When we talk about small ship cruising it can be fewer than 150 passengers or up to about 1300 passengers. With small ships come other advantages besides just fewer people. The crew to passenger ratio is higher which means you get the best service on the sea, the ships tend to be more design driven and you can disembark in ports that the bigger vessels can’t access or have to tender (taking a smaller boat from the ship to port) to.
With just 332 passengers the m/s Paul Gauguin is quite possibly the best way to see French Polynesia. Start your 8 day adventure in Papeete and island hop your way to Huahine, Tahaa, Bora Bora and Moorea with overnights in Bora Bora and Moorea. Explore the ship, listen to lectures by onboard destination experts, or just enjoy the view from your balcony with 24 hour room service.
Looking for something a bit more intimate? Aqua Expeditions offers an Amazon River Cruise with just 32 passengers. The Aria Amazon was custom-built to explore the Peruvian Amazon and the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve in absolute comfort and luxury, with minimal impact to the delicate Amazonian environment. The ships’ 16 spacious suites with floor-to-ceiling windows give guests a full view of the Amazon’s majestic river and rainforests.
There are so many more options to consider when it comes to small ship cruising. And the best part? On many of these sailings I’m able to offer my clients VIP benefits like on board credits that can be used for massages, a bottle of champagne or tours.
