The top 3 sites to see in Miami, Florida

Miami Beach

MIAMI IS A TRIP TO THE CARIBBEAN, CONVENIENTLY LOCATED IN THE U.S.

When you visit Miami for the first time you may get a stance feeling of deja vu. Miami feels like so many other places… Cuba, Haiti, the Bahamas, but it is distinctly it’s own character. There are so many things not to be missed in Miami like the Art Deco architecture, public art, and global cuisine. Because there’s so much to see and do it can get a bit overwhelming, but I’ve got you covered! I’m sharing the top three sites that you should visit on your first trip to Miami

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MIAMI

  • Miami is a direct flight from most major cities

  • Fly into MIA to be 15 minutes from South Beach or FLL for a 30-45 minute drive

  • The weather is warm year-round but can be hot and humid in the summer months

  • Miami is a major cruise port, so if you’re cruising out of Miami leave a few days before and after your trip to explore.

TOP SITES TO SEE IN MIAMI

Little Havana
Wynwood
  1. Little Havana: I’ve visited Havana once and was supposed to go back in 2020, so I was excited to check out this enclave of Cuban culture. Order a Cuban coffee, sit down at a table at Versailles or Sanguich before dessert at Azcar Ice Cream. Then start walking and you’ll see murals and roosters for blocks.... yes, roosters! The rooster statues have been around since the early 2000’s and are both adorable and picture perfect. Most of the murals are tucked on side streets or in parking lots so make sure you keep your eyes peeled. The Renda Writer Amor Love was one of my favorites but there are lots of beauties. Then rehydrate with a fresh juice at @los_pinarenos_fruteria before grabbing a cocktail at Sala’o and a cigar from the shop next door.

  2. Wynwood: Wynwood has a serious vibe and is definitely a popular spot for Sunday strolls and people watching. Think of it as a trendy area that has something for art, food, and fashion lovers. The Wynwood Walls are a destination unto itself. You can easily spend an hour wandering from wall to wall admiring all of the creativity and hard work that went into each mural. You can also literally just wander around most of the neighborhood and see equally as impressive murals everywhere. Refuel with handmade pierogies and local brews at Butcher Shop Beer Garden and then head over to The Salty Donut for a sweet treat.

  3. South Beach: No trip to Miami is complete without two things. A beach day on South Beach and Stone Crab Claws at Joe’s Stone Crab. Don’t miss the Art Deco architecture on Ocean Drive and Collins Avenue or the opportunity to take your mojito to go and wander back to the beach. If you’re a fashion lover then pictures in front of Versace’s mansion are mandatory. The further north you head from South Beach, you’ll start to discover hotel properties that are known for their pool and restaurant scenes. Head in that direction before sundown and you can experience the day party that is Hyde Beach. If you want to stay awhile then make a reservation at The Bazaar by José Andrés also located at the famed SLS South Beach.
