PRO TIPS to picking 2 destinations that pair well together
Last summer I spent some time at the Prime Meridian Line, and if you stand with one foot on the right side of the line and the other on the left side, you are perfectly in the middle of east and west.
It got me thinking about how much I love working on multi-destination itineraries and what tips and tricks are key to acing this somewhat complicated type of travel.
Tip 1: Give yourself enough time
I always recommend no less than 3 nights per destination in order to have time to relax + explore. This means that when thinking about destinations that pair well together, you shouldn’t pick 2 that are a days worth of travel apart.
Tip 2: Visit the more active destination first (unless it’s your honeymoon!)
When you come back from vacation, you want to feel like you were on vacation. So, if you have one destination that’s activity or tour heavy, start there and then slow your pace down towards the end of your trip.
Tip 3: Think about what you hope to gain from your trip.
Sometimes the two destinations that pair well together are ones that check your interest boxes. If you’re a foodie, then start with the top locales for Michelin restaurants, a train ride between two French cities is easy to combine. Love cocktails think about rum producing destinations that are a quick flight apart.
