Ready for a romantic getaway?

When @cntraveler asks you to weigh in with tips on how to plan a tailor-made getaway for two, you think about all the lessons you’ve learned as 1/2 of a traveling couple.

Now I’ve shared before that my husband and I have very different travel objectives. I want to spend 99% of my time on a beach, and he wants to hit a city center and hang out with locals. The one thing we always agree on… cocktails! But seriously, we spend a lot of time traveling together, so it’s imperative that we chat about what works and what doesn’t on our vacays.

What we’ve learned in our 9 years of marriage and 14 years of traveling together is that there’s a perfect way to combine everyone’s priorities and goals, even on a quick 4 day getaway.

Heading out with a clear plan that makes everyone happy, and of course the expertise of your favorite travel advisor (ahem 😉) means that your next romantic getaway can be stress free and most importantly memorable!

Read on for the tips I shared with @cntraveler and head to this link for the full article.

“My favorite piece of advice is to leave room for spontaneity,” says luxury travel advisor Amina Dearmon, the founder and owner of Perspectives Travel. “Our lives are already so over-scheduled, it’s important to have the freedom to do absolutely nothing and enjoy each other’s company, no matter which destination you choose.”

“And if you’re going to splurge, Dearmon suggests balling out on your accommodations (“It’s your home away from home”) and opting for extras like VIP meet and greets at the airport (“It’s a service that makes up a small percentage of your total trip cost, but it can make the biggest difference in your travel day.”).”

Let’s be honest, there always tends to be one person in a partnership who is the “planner” and often times that person doesn’t get to enjoy their vacation as much because they’re coordinating the entire trip. If that’s you, then reach out when you’re ready to hand over the logistics to a pro, so that you can focus on spending time with your boo!
