Don't discount day trips on your next vacation

I spent a week traveling in Portugal and one of the best parts of my experience… day trips!

I’ve shared the highlights of Porto and Lisbon with you, but I also took day trips that let me venture out and explore other areas. I’m a big fan of having a home base and then heading out with a driver/guide to see the surrounding areas.

You get the expertise of a local, don’t have to worry about driving or directions, and get to explore places that may be a bit more off the beaten path.

Here’s a roundup of just some of the beautiful areas that you can explore from Porto and Lisbon:

  • Costa Nova do Prado to see the striped houses called palheiros

  • Coimbra to explore the university town, especially the baroque library

  • Aveiro to ride in the traditional boats in the Venice of Portugal

  • Sintra to explore the national palace and the cute city center

  • Douro Valley for wine tasting and one of the best meals you’ll have all trip

Reach out when you’re ready to explore Portugal, from the main cities to the local towns. My trip was full of wonderful experiences, and I can’t wait to share that with you as we plan your next Portugal getaway!
