WHERE TO STAY, EAT & PLAY IN PHOENIX, AZ

If you've never been to Phoenix then you may be imagining deserts, cacti, and breathtaking landscapes. You would not be wrong on any account, but there is so much more to this Southwestern city!

I’m sharing just a few of my recommendations for how you can spend a day in Phoenix!

Stay: There's a reason that the @royalpalmshotel was built in 1929 as a winter retreat for a prominent New York family. When you depart from freezing temperatures and arrive in 60° air, you'll understand that this atmosphere does something for you both physically and mentally. It also helps that the Spanish Mediterranean mansion offers 119 artfully appointed casitas, estate rooms and suites with a serious romantic vibe.

Picture yourself strolling through the resort's winding pathways, discovering romantic nooks, pausing for a cocktail in front of a crackling fireplace, or admiring treasures from the original owners' worldwide travels. Don't miss the Saturday tradition of classic movies and live music on the lawn! *Pro tip* As a @virtuosoltd property my connections mean that I can VIP you, all courtesy of Perspectives Travel!

Eat: Phoenix has become a foodie town with new restaurants opening on a regular basis. If you're headed to Phoenix to detox then @persepshen is a must. The farm-driven restaurant focuses on sustainable, local, and organic offerings. Make sure you try the local spirits and wines on the menu. And if you're going to carb load then @eatsaintpasta is your spot. Go for the perfect Cacio e Pepe and stay for the Fried Pizza (yes, you read that right)! There's a reason this restaurant has made it to so many "top restaurant" lists.

Play: Camelback Mountain is one of the most popular urban hiking spots in Phoenix. Make it to the hump for a panoramic view that's picture perfect. Then head to the @dbgphx and follow the winding paths of this 50-acre desert garden. And a tour of Frank Lloyd Wright's @wrighttaliesin is obviously non-negotiable.
